Lunges are another exercise my physiotherapist recommended for my abductor overload. Lunges work your gluts, quads, hamstrings, calves and also your core.
How to do them properly?
- First, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.
- Step forward and bend your knees, keeping your torso in an upright position. Your knees must form a 90 degree angle.
- Push off with your front heel to go back to a standing position.
- Repeat, this time stepping forward with the opposite leg.
My physiotherapist told me to use dumbbells while performing lunges, but to first do them without them to start off more comfortably.
